We believe that empowerment comes through equitable and sustainable opportunities for employment. People cannot defend their social rights, protect the environment, or participate in community collaboration if they do not have the means by which to make a living. Through facilitating employment access that does not damage the environment, is accessible to women, and enables individuals to earn a fair wage, we can create the context necessary through which social justice and environmental protection is achieved.
Economic and social justice complements sustainable development through empowering individuals to have the ability advocate for environmental protection. By creating alternative ways for people to make a living that is in harmony with the environment and communities, the Sustainability Demonstration Center is a leader in developing innovative approaches to facilitate employment opportunity that is not only environmentally sustainable, but can provide long-term economic benefit to community members.
